Building in a historic town
The town grew up around Battle Abbey, founded on the site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, and its High Street is lined with historic buildings. Bradford Brickwork works as builders in Battle and the surrounding Rother countryside, with 15 years of trading behind our extensions, new builds, repointing and lintel work.
Battle’s centre is a mix of timber-framed, tile-hung and brick buildings from many centuries, with Victorian and later housing spread along the roads leading out of town. Beyond the edges sit farmhouses, cottages and newer homes across the High Weald. Older brickwork here deserves care, and any change to a property should respect the character around it.

Typical jobs in Battle
How homeowners in Battle use us
Adding a room to a country home
Detached houses and cottages outside the town often have space to extend. We build the extension and tie it into the house.
Weather-worn joints on an old elevation
On older properties the mortar can wear back over decades. Repointing renews the joints so the wall looks and performs better.
A lintel that needs replacing
Cracks over a window, or a sagging brick arch, may mean the support has failed. We replace lintels and window supports.

FAQs
Questions about building work in Battle
Do you cover villages around Battle?
Battle is part of our service area. Get in touch with your address and we will confirm whether we can help.
What services do you offer?
Residential building, commercial building, brick repointing and structural work on lintels and window supports.
Are you an established business?
Yes. Bradford Brickwork has been trading for 15 years.
Why do old brick walls lose their mortar?
Rain, wind and frost slowly erode mortar over the decades, and joints on older buildings were never designed to last forever. When the joints recede or crumble, the wall becomes more open to water.
