Crowborough’s setting and homes
Bradford Brickwork provides builders in Crowborough with 15 years of trading experience, taking on house extensions, new builds, repointing, structural work and commercial projects.
Crowborough is one of the highest towns in Sussex, sitting on the north-western edge of Ashdown Forest. The town grew strongly from the Victorian period, when large houses were built to take advantage of the clean air and views, and it has expanded since with family homes and estates. Walls on high, open ground weather quickly, so the condition of mortar joints and the support over windows matter here.

Typical jobs in Crowborough
Typical Crowborough jobs
A larger house without leaving the area
Families keen to stay near the forest often extend instead of moving. We build house extensions and new builds.
Brickwork exposed to the elements
Walls facing the prevailing weather may show eroded joints first. Repointing renews the mortar across the affected area.
Windows that need a new lintel
Failing supports above windows can cause cracking. We fit replacement lintels and window supports.

FAQs
Questions about building in Crowborough
Is Crowborough within your service area?
Yes, Crowborough is one of the towns we cover.
What makes up your commercial work?
We work for commercial clients, including a national pub group.
Do you offer brick repointing?
Yes. Repointing is one of our four core services.
Can repointing be done in winter?
It is possible in mild spells, but fresh mortar is vulnerable to frost while it cures. On high ground like Crowborough, cold snaps are more frequent, so repointing is usually easier to plan for warmer months.
